By the end of 2019 Gordon Murray (creator of the legendary McLaren F1) surprised us with what would be one of the news of a year: he was going to manufacture a new hypercar!.

An engineer with a amazing career

Murray is known for his achievements in Formula One during the 1980s, both at Brabham and McLaren. With the latter he would culminate his dream in 1992: create the ultimate sports car, with no compromises. That’s how both McLaren Cars Ltd and the F1 were born, a legendary model that, unexpectedly, has found its successor in the profile of the T.50, designed by GMA (Gordon Murray Automotive).

Ugraded formula.

The GMA T.50 has ironed all those details that remained pending in the McLaren F1. Taking the central driving posicion concept of the F1 as starting point, other elements used in its predecessor can be seen: rear wheel drive, two small side compartments for luggage and the battery, along with other accessories on the front.

The most differentiating element of the car is without a doubt its rear fan, now fully optimized compared to the one used in the McLaren F1. Working with it, we find the diffuser below that allows different operating modes.

Tamiya ®

A version dedicated to a special driver.

In addition to the naturally aspirated V12 present in T.50’s “standard” trim, GMA announced in 2021 an improved version named after Niki Lauda. Murray keeps special memory of the three-time champion, who had recently passed away, and dubbed his new creature as T.50S Niki Lauda. Now the car is optimised at all levels, without the restrictions of road use approval.
The basis remains the same: the very light Cosworth engine, capable of spinning up to 12.100 rpm!.

In house design

On this occasion, Murray has recruited his own team of designers, who have assisted him in the final execution of the bodywork. This department also completely customized each of the one hundred units that were manufactured. It’s a sports car quite determined by both its aerodynamic performance and the aim of keeping total weight low.

The T.50 has all the ingredients to be another landmark in sports car history.

The unique hypercar concept embraced by GMA has led his team to create a unparalleled motor car: practical, optimal in size and with driving experience as main ethos.
